"An estimated 40,000 people gather in Oslo's Youngstorget square to sing "Children of the Rainbow," a song derided by mass killer Anders Behring Breivik."

RIP Trakker @ 03:51 pm

I woke up and he was very agitated and whining. And when I walked the other dogs, I came back and found that he couldn't even get up, and he pissed and pooped on himself. While I was trying to clean all that up, I couldn't even move him, he was too heavy and couldn't even lift himself up at all. All attempts to get him to eat have failed, you could clearly see the definition of his skull in his face. And when I tried to give him water, he just kept throwing it back up. I knew it was time.

I just got back from the vet. It was very peaceful. I'll miss you boy.

Trakker Update Again @ 05:57 pm

Well I gave Trakker his first IV fluid thing. The vets let me take him home and give him fluid via the IV so it wouldn't be so expensive to leave him at the vet.

He's not doing better. He keeps trying to follow me around the apartment, and he just collapses after a few steps. I'm trying to keep him still for the time being.

He keeps vomiting, including the medicine he has to take. And if he can't keep that down, there's not much else anyone can do for him. So I've been seriously considering taking him to the vet to euthanize him. He's not happy, I can tell. He looks just miserable.

I'd throw another $1000 at the vets if I thought they could do anything, but they've tried everything they could. We'll see how it goes over the weekend, and if it doesn't get any better, I'll have to take him up there to put him to sleep.

Just picked up Trakker @ 04:01 pm

The prognosis is not good. He has kidney failure. How long he lives at this point is up in the air really. I've gotten some IV Treatments I have to give him. They still think it could be a urinary tract infection complicated by his diabetes, so they're hoping his antibiotics will help. He did look -a lot- better when I picked him up. He's a little trooper so I'm cautiously optimistic. I mean I know he's going to die sometime, but as long as he's a happy dog that's what matters.

Vet bill was only $922, so it was a lot less than I thought it would be, and easily manageable. I'm still going to have a half off sale on SL just to help offset the cost a little.

Trakker Update @ 05:45 pm

The vet just now called me and told me that with the IV he's doing better and he's starting to eat. They think they might have an infection, so they're flushing him with antibiotics and he was dehydrated (Which is what I was worried about since he was throwing up so much after drinking).

They want to keep him til Thursday. Which, hopefully, isn't too bad, just two nights, and whatever other fees they throw on me. So will still probably be a $1k+ vet bill, but I'm hoping I can pay for it on my credit card and give me some time to pay it off over time.

She sounded positive at least.

Trakker's Update @ 03:34 pm

He's showing the first signs of renal failure. They're going to have to keep him at the vet overnight for a few nights, and put him on an IV to try to stablize it. It's going to cost $300 a night for this.

I think I'll be having a half off sale on SL this weekend to try to offset the costs. Right now it's looking to be at least a $1000 bill so far. And I'll throw however much money it takes at them if they can make him feel better. I'm just worried, with the severity of the condition that there's not much they can do for him. And I really hate to think he might die there alone in an unfamiliar place.

Trakker's Sick Again @ 07:10 am

Trakker's really sick again. Seems to be a nearly yearly thing with him in his old age (He's 12). He's been throwing up all day with specks of blood in it. I've stayed up with him all night and he's barely managed to walk into the hallway just a few minutes ago. I've still got to wait another 20 minutes before the vet opens, which I'm going to call them and hopefully they'll let me drop him off.

I don't know what he got into. He's not wanted to eat for the past couple of days, but he seemed fine, and he did eat with some coaxing. But last night, it got really bad. I hope they can help. And I hope they don't charge me an arm and a leg for it. I don't have Bow's income to back me up anymore, and with two aging dogs (Midnite is 14 and her vet bill earlier this month was $400), it's going to be difficult for me to afford their care.

Ocular Migraine @ 12:25 pm

I had an honest to god ocular migraine last night. It's the first time I ever experienced anything like it. I remember seeing articles about it in the past, about how people suffering from this stuff would 'see' things that looked right out of movies with drug abusers in it. But last night after putting away some stuff, I had a clear arch shaped blob of colors affecting my vision. I was looking up info on it, and I had a very hard time actually seeing the text on the screen. It was kind of like, if I tried to read the words to the side a bit, I was fine. But anything I looked at directly was messed up by that weird arc. It was in my right eye only as well.

It was after I looked at the symptoms and causes that I realized I hadn't eaten anything in two days other than a small portion of leftover french fries and chex mix. So I heated up a hot pocket, ate it and went to bed. The weird lightshow went away about 20-25 minutes after it started. Though it left me with a real migraine that I had to sleep through the rest of the night.
