It's not a fallback puppy, I assure you, and I'm not looking for a replacement for Bobo. Infact I refuse to get a puppy in July because that's when I got Bobo... well at least, not around my B'day, and not as a b'day present. That was Bobo's legacy.
So I've been looking at getting another dachshund. Bow was talking to me about it, and he said he wouldn't mind another husky, or a malamute... or even a wolfdog. Well, wolfdog? Cool, but no. I don't think we have the capacity, responsibility, or ability to take care of a wolfdog, not to mention it's hard to find reputable breeders for them... and I don't exactly want to fund their business. I mean I love wolfdogs and all, but there are far too many idiots that get them, and it ends up hurting "the breed" in the end. It's of my opinion that if you want a dog that looks like a wolf, get a husky or a 'mute with the 'wolf' color, but don't try to keep a wolfdog if looks are all you're interested in.
I think I've decided that I want another dachshund anyway. I'm a big fan of them, I mean I had two growing up. And they're just so darn cute. I was really hoping I could get a pup from the same place I got Bobo and Steffi, but I can't find any trace of them anymore. I guess they closed shop. I was kinda hoping to get a dog related to Bobo, but that's not going to happen now.
I'm not going to rush into this. I'm going to take the time to look up kennels and stuff and find a reputable one. I don't want or need to deal with a sick puppy. And I also want to make sure this is the right thing to do.
