"Alo there, I wanted to know if you could build me an avatar, Id be willing to pay the full price of a regular avatar for one"
So for you non-SLers, let me explain what he's asking for. He wants to commission me for a custom work, and he wants to pay the price of a regular print.
I mean really, He should have stopped at the first part. "I wanted to know if you could build me an avatar." Simple, easy inquiry, no harm done.
"I'd be willing to pay the full price of a regular avatar for one." That, my friends, is insulting to an artist and their work.
The only way I'd let him get away with this is if he is really wanting to /request/ an animal species, and those will go up for sale as regular avatars and he could buy it from the vendor like anyone else. If he wants a custom, him-only avatar, he would be paying much more than "A regular avatar" that is only worth like, a $1.50.
My time is worth well more than $1.50.
Edit:
He replied to me after I told him simply, I don't do customs with: "Alright, Thats too bad, I'd have paid 3k in lindens for one avitar"
Like a paltry $3k is going to change my mind. If you want a custom av, you better be ready to shell out $20,000L+
