Spring Cleaning... of tanks.

Well it was that time again, to clean out the fish tanks, the oh so joyous process that comes up every few weeks that every fish lover either loves or dreads. Usually I dread it, I have a tendancy to kill fish when I clean the tanks. I dunno what it is.

This time, however, I decided that the 55 gallon tank needed some serious work. I mean, this is what it used to look like.

This weekend, however, I decided to splurge on some decorations for the tank.

The tank now:

The Balas are quite pleased after a thorough plant inspection:

Yes, we have one neon tetra. He was bought with a school of neons in our old 26 gallon tank. He never schooled with them, he's also huge, about an inch and a half long. He'd constantly school with our scissortails (he still does), but he hated the neons. Eventually all the other neons passed on. He didn't seem to care. Since we have balas in the tank, we've decided not to get anymore neons. He seems happy enough with the scissortails, and they all school together with the balas. Oh and that's not a dead fish on the bottom, that's one of the algae eaters trying to suck the side of the tank.
